What is SAMBO

 SAMBO is a martial art and combat sport developed and used by the Soviet Red Army in the early 1920s to improve their hand-to-hand combat abilities. The sport is similar in many ways to Judo and Jujutsu but also incorporates different types of wrestling and various self-defense systems. SAMBO is an acronym which stands for "self-defense without weapons".    There are three types of SAMBO Self-Defense/Applied:   Curriculum of techniques from Jujitsu, Judo, SAMBO, Karate/Kung-fu, and Boxing.  Sambo's self-defense training should remain focused on gross motor movements, adaptability and efficiency.  Preparing students for “real life” is the first goal of SAMBO training.  Sport/Wrestling: Athletes must cross train  to reach their potential and fix the holes in their game.  Training in any sport based grappling is an invaluable skill builder.   FITNESS Daily Routine Fitness: Fitness outside of training should be built upon sprints and pulling movements. Additional bodyweight and low weight (30% max or less) high rep work can take place Frequently with a focus on endurance and explosiveness. Heavy work; with a focus on negative movement should take place no more than twice a week. Those sessions should last 45-60 min.  Sprints: 200-800m  Bodyweight exercises: Squats, Plank and Push, Dive Bombers Push Ups, Situps, Pullups, Pistols Kettlebell: Swings, Snatches, Alternating Rows, Alternating Push Ups, Bent Presses, Presses, Farmers Walks, Overhead Squats, Get ups Battle Ropes: 10-20 sets : 30, 45, 60 second sets (beg, int, adv)  Jump Rope Bulgarian Bag  Once a Month Circuit:  Once a month a team circuit should be constructed utilizing between 8-16 stations.  Circuits should utilize the same 30/45/60sec on/off(rest) rate corresponding to the level of development (beg/int/adv) of the athlete. ...

  The IFJA  The International Freestyle Judo Alliance is bringing back the 'Golden Age' of Judo competition by embracing the fighting arts of Wrestling, Sambo and Modern Jiu-Jitsu!  Freestyle Judo Alliance is open to any organization that promotes "Judo the way it ought to be!" Freestyle Judo relies on organizations to run and sanction events and is free for anyone to join. The rules of Freestyle Judo make it the ideal sport for all grappling athletes to compete because it encourages techniques from Wrestling, Judo, Jiu-Jitsu and Sambo. SAMBO  history in Africa started in 1987 when Mr. Dalil Skalli now President of  African   SAMBO Confederation  (CAS) initiated the national committee of Morocco on  SAMBO.   That year one of the first World cups was held in Casablanca (Morocco) where by winning 2 gold and 1 bronze medals Moroccan national team took third place. In 2003, the Committee renamed itself the  SAMBO  Federation of Morocco.
